Earth Hour

So, Im going to be participating in Earth Hour. This will be the second annual event for me.

Last year we tried to cook steak by candle light, but in the end, we had to guess cause we couldnt see how well cooked it is. I like mine rare, to medium rare. One of my friends likes hers blue, and my other half likes his well done

This year, Im not sure what Im doing, but it may involve a drum and possibly some dancing if someone comes over. Im learning how to drum but thats not to say I cant hold down a beat. If drumming and dancing dont happen, I might resolve myself to just knitting or hand quilting...or possibly drawing. Something that doesnt require power.

I have my candles....I dont quite have enough tealights but what I have will suffice for now. I think im just going to have to pick up some more tealights tho.

Whatever you are doing for earth hour, have fun with it! I like to use it as a time to reflect on those good ol days where we didnt have power at one point. Where we didnt have video games or had light we could turn on in an instant. I realize its about power conservation, but I realize its just one of those movements that have different meanings for different people. I also like to think of it as training for when we have no power if we loose power to the entire eastern seaboard again....or if the zombies attack. Its better to figure out how you can survive without power for 72 hours at minimum, rather than not knowing how to cook with candles and suffering the alternative.

Its something of an art form to keep busy when you have no power. Especially during that blackout a few years ago. That I found rather entertianing since I do alot with my hands anyways.

Other than that, Ive got to get ready for work. Im starting a bit later than usual today.

I like your thoughts about earth hour being a time of reflection - I have two old treadle sewing machines, perhaps I should get one of them going for the occasion!
